MEDIA ADVISORY: LSC Committees to Meet September 13 and 16

Washington, DC—Two committees of the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) will meet by telephone this month. The Finance Committee will meet at 11 a.m., September 13, to consider and act on a recommendation to make to the Board with regard to LSC’s Fiscal Year 2013 appropriation request to Congress. The Operations & Regulations Committee will meet at 1 p.m., September 16 to consider public comments received on proposed statutory changes regarding census data for distributing grants and to adopt a recommendation on the matter.

LSC is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that was established by the Congress in 1974 to promote equal access to justice and to ensure civil legal services are available to low-income Americans. Corporation grants are distributed to 136 nonprofit legal aid programs across the nation.
