Constance Named Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs

Washington, DC--The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) today announced the appointment of John A. Constance as Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs effective May 7, 2007.
LSC President Helaine M. Barnett said, "John Constance will bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to LSC. His credentials include significant management experience, demonstrated professionalism, and great integrity."
Constance comes to LSC from the National Archives and Records Administration, where he has been Director, Congressional and Public Affairs since 2000. In this capacity, he managed the agency's congressional and media relations activities, served as lead advocate for the agency's budget before Congress, and oversaw production of print and electronic communications.
Earlier in his career at the National Archives, which began in 1972, Constance was Director, Congressional Affairs; Director, Policy and Program Analysis; and Chief, Information Management and Directives Branch. After co-chairing the National Archives' first strategic plan, he was invited to serve as adjunct faculty to the Office of Personnel Management's course in strategic planning for members of the Senior Executive Service. He also served as a public affairs consultant to the Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. Department of Education.
Constance has a bachelor's degree in government from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and a Masters degree in public administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
