"I would like to nominate Tom Trent as an Access to Justice Honoree. Tom started his younger years as an attorney with legal services and has continued to show his dedication to our mission of providing access to justice. Tom is currently serving as South Carolina Legal Services' Intake Managing Attorney. Despite the lengthy hours that this job entails, he continues to make himself a resource for other organizations and current/potential clients. Tom always volunteers to do outreach throughout the state, mentor attorneys young and older, and be a member of several committees."

"Tom has spent several decades advocating for low-income South Carolinians. Not only does he manage all the intakes for the entire state, but he goes above and beyond his role by acting as cocounsel when needed, covering for managing attorney for the Columbia, SC office and updating us on various changes in SC law and LSC polices and priorities. He is also an active member for the Cultural Humility Unit and participate in outreach events consistently. He encourages staff attorneys to think outside the box when advocating for our clients. Tom has widened my perspective when it comes to advocating. He is also one of the pillars in forming our Housing Court pilot program for Richland County, SC."
