LSC Grantee Legal Action of Wisconsin Receives Grant from Green Bay Packers Players

GREEN BAY, WI  – Player representatives from the Green Bay Packers today announced their decision to donate $50,000 to Legal Action of Wisconsin. Legal Action of Wisconsin provides civil legal aid to low-income people in the southern half of Wisconsin and is one of 133 legal aid organizations across the country that receive funding from the Legal Services Corporation. 

Today’s donation is part of the Social Justice Initiative, a joint effort between the NFL and players to tackle complex societal issues facing their communities. Legal Action of Wisconsin’s Executive Director David Pifer and Board President Ben Obregon were on hand to receive the donation from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field this morning. Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy also attended the event.

“Equal justice for all is our work. Aaron Rodgers’ and the other players’ choice to support Legal Action of Wisconsin affirms that equal justice for all is one of the most important American ideals,” said Pifer. “Demanding equal justice for all is what we have done for 50 years, and what we will continue to do as long as it is needed.”

The Green Bay Packers players plan to use their national platform to continue to support Legal Action of Wisconsin and the work the organization undertakes on behalf of veterans seeking benefits, seniors battling consumer scams, victims of domestic seeking protection orders, and tenants fighting wrongful evictions.
