Job Overview

The Resource Development Director plays a critical supporting role in Florida Rural Legal Services Inc.’s overall fund development function working closely with FRLS’ Development Team. This position’s primary responsibilities include timely management of grant submissions and reports, writing and editing grant narratives, donor development, and database management and reporting.

 

The Resource Development Director will report directly to the Executive Director.

 

Essential Functions

1. Grant Coordination, Writing, Editing, and Reports

2.  Works directly with the Leadership Team to develop and maintain all grant-related deadlines, write and submit grant applications, and assist with writing required reports.  

3.  Undertake grant prospecting with governmental, private, and corporate funding sources.

4.  Maintain grants and agreements through accurate record-keeping, documentation, and file maintenance.

5.  Coordinate with respective grant point persons, ensuring awareness of application or report due dates and format, verification of application and reporting submission requirements.

6.  Write grant applications as assigned and manage the process if other staff or contractors are lead writers.

7.  Edit grant applications and reports for clarity, grammar, format, accuracy, and consistency.

8. Draft grant reports as assigned, coordinating with grant point person for required reporting details.

9.  Maintain grant file storage system on FRLS’ shared drive and digital cloud database.

10.  Maintain FRLS’ donor and grant database to ensure accurate and timely reporting, including data entry and analysis.

11. Management of Donor Development, including Strategy and Solicitations

12. Works directly with FRLS Leadership to develop, maintain, and grow FRLS’s donors, including monetary donations and goods for use on projects and as volunteer prizes.

13. Coordinate and manage a minimum of two annual letter campaigns including research and development of targeted FRLS donor lists to reach identified campaign goals.

14. Develop strategy, process, and goals for in-kind donations.

15. Assist with development and management of the FRLS membership-level donor program, including securing member-level benefits such as marketing item discounts;

16. Coordinate all donor acknowledgement activities with FRLS leadership, including timely oral and written communication to donors, maintaining accurate donor records, gift management systems and informational reports - such as FRLS’s annual year-end report and annual donor recognition panels.

17.  Maintain FRLS’s donor and grant database, including data entry and analysis, to ensure accurate input for timely reporting.

Works directly with the Development Team in planning and undertaking special events and other donor and other recognition events, including securing all in-kind donations for special events and assisting with sponsorship asks.

18. Works with the Executive Director to assist with development related Board committees to reach strategic organizational objectives and goals.

19. Performs other responsibilities as requested by Executive Leadership.

20.  Attendance at evening and weekend events, with some travel, is required

 

Qualifications/Experience

1. bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, business, or related fields.

2. Demonstrated experience in resource development and grant coordination and grant writing.

3. Experience with effective fundraising techniques.

7. Ability to plan and meet deadlines

8. Computer usage, including proficiency of Microsoft applications and experience in databases; experience in Constant Contact or other email marketing software is preferred.

This position operates in a professional work environment.

 

Physical requirements

1. This is a largely sedentary role, however, some lifting of office supplies of up to 50 pounds may be required.
