Washington, DC & Facebook Live Stream

Each year, millions of Americans living in poverty “go it alone” in legal disputes. The need for basic civil legal assistance for people who cannot afford to pay for it is overwhelming. Although many low-income Americans approach LSC-funded legal aid organizations for support, most are turned away due to limited staff and lack of resources. LSC’s 2022 report provides a fresh assessment of the Justice Gap in America, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 28, 2022, distinguished national leaders will offer reflections on the Justice Gap and the importance of ensuring that low-income Americans have access to free civil legal assistance. Speakers include:

  • The Honorable Anna Blackburne-Rigsby, Chief Judge, District of Columbia Court of Appeals
  • The Honorable Ben Cardin (MD)
  • The Honorable Tom Emmer, Vice Chair, Congressional Access to Legal Aid Caucus (MN-06)
