Job Overview
The Community Outreach Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing the most up-to-date education and information on various FRLS legal services. The Community Outreach Paralegal is the main point of contact between the organization and the broader community to help identify and process at-risk individuals who need legal aid assistance.

This involves conducting research and outreach events, creating newsletters, promoting initiatives on social media and other marketing channels, helping community members with program enrollment, identifying and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in the community, and coordinating internal and external information sharing.

Our ideal candidate is a motivated, passionate individual who shares our values and believes in our mission, has strong interpersonal skills, is a great communicator, and has 3+ years of experience developing and implementing community outreach programs.

FRLS will take a holistic approach and offer all legal aid services that are available to individual and household needs.

The Outreach Coordinator is under the supervision of the Managing Attorney.

Essential Functions
1. Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, faith-based entities, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
2. Prepare an annual calendar for community outreach activities.
3. Establish new and nurture old relationships with collaborative partners.
4. Schedule regular outreach exhibitions in the community designed to educate employees on community responsibility.
5. Schedule legal clinics in collaboration with community partners.
6. Prepare accurate records and reports on outreach goals.
7. Contact community organizations serving low-income communities and FRLS’s target populations, explaining the mission and services.
8. Meet regularly with outreach project partners to give updates and plan outreach.
9. Conduct phone intakes
10. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or required.

10. Minimum Job Requirements:
• Three-to-four years of professional experience as an outreach coordinator, paralegal, or housing advocate, provided that an additional degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to best fulfill the goals of the outreach project.
• Cultural literacy and humility in working with low-income clients across the spectrum of diversity.
• A demonstrated commitment to social, economic, and racial justice and providing high quality legal assistance to low-income communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The employee in this Outreach Coordinator position will be responsible for:
1. Conducting extensive outreach.
2. Maintaining client information in the database(s).
3. Conducting intakes
4. Communicating successfully and respectfully with clients by any available verbal or written means
5. Collection of client data
6. Drafting correspondence and preparing other written materials
7. Providing litigation support.

This includes support of the attorneys with creating newsletters, promoting our initiatives on social media, helping community members with program enrollment, maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the community, and coordinating internal and external information sharing. The Outreach Coordinator should be knowledgeable, confident, organized, disciplined, dedicated, and focused to ensure client work is handled in a competent manner.

Education and Qualifications:
1. Excellent oral and written communication.
2. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
3. Competency with equipment and legal information pertaining to legal intake screenings
4. High School or GED equivalent.
5. Paralegal degree or certification preferred or three years or more work experience.
6. Must be able to travel up to 70% of the time.

This position operates in a professional work environment.

Physical requirements
1. This is a largely sedentary role, however, some lifting of office supplies of up to 20 pounds may be
required.
2. Must be able to travel throughout Florida, as needed.

Assists with grant compliance reports as needed and any other report as requested
