Talking AI for Access to Justice at the 25th Innovations in Technology Conference
Recorded live from the 25th annual Innovations in Technology Conference (ITC), legal tech experts discuss their artificial intelligence (AI) projects and AI’s future potential for expanding legal services on Talk Justice. The live podcast recording at ITC took place in Phoenix, Arizona on January 14. At the conference, more than 700 professionals from legal, tech and other backgrounds gathered to attend panels and join conversations about access to justice, legal aid, courts and the evolving role of technology. AI was a major theme at the conference, where more than 300 people also attended a pre-conference AI Summit.

Sateesh Nori
Sateesh Nori is a lawyer, law professor, and author. For twenty years, he represented tenants across New York City at various legal services organizations. He was a commissioner of the 2019 Charter Revision Commission. He serves as the Senior Legal Innovation Strategist at Just-Tech. He co-created and co-teaches the Housing Rights Clinic at NYU Law. Sateesh is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and NYU Law. Sateesh was named a “Rising Star” by the New York Law Journal, one of “Queens’ Power 50,” and was featured as a “Legal Rebel” in the Spring 2021 ABA Journal. In 2023, he was a recipient of the New York City Bar Association’s “Legal Services Award.” In 2023, he published a book about his work as a housing attorney, entitled “Sheltered: Twenty Years in Housing Court.”

Lisa Colpoys
Lisa Colpoys is an experienced public service leader and innovator who has spent her career working to create and deliver new ways for people to solve their legal problems. She is passionate about transforming our courts and the practice of law through innovative ideas and the use of technology, and improving and simplifying processes and systems. Currently she serves as Senior Consultant to the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois’ AI Initiative, where she works to introduce and encourage the exploration and use of artificial intelligence by legal aid organizations and legal professionals. Highlights of her career include launching and leading Illinois Legal Aid Online and Illinois Court Help, leading the Filing Fairness Project at Stanford Law School, and serving as consultant to the Michigan Justice for All Project.

As Professor of the Practice and Co-Director of the Program on Law & Innovation and the Vanderbilt AI Law Lab, all at Vanderbilt Law School, Caitlin “Cat” Moon designs the J.D. curriculum for PoLI Institute with the goal of empowering students to lead in the innovation of 21st century legal services delivery. Professor Moon also founded and directs the PoLI Institute, which provides interactive post-graduate executive education to legal professionals.
