MEDIA ADVISORY: LSC Board to Meet Oct. 31-Nov. 1

Washington, DC - The Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation will meet in Salt Lake City on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.  Members of the news media and the public may attend open sessions on those days.

The board will visit Utah Legal Services Inc. and act on reports from its committees on audit, finance, governance and performance review, operations and regulations and delivery of legal services.  Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine M. Durham will speak at the board's luncheon on Oct. 31.

Board sessions will be held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center, 255 S. West Temple, in Salt Lake City.

The Legal Services Corporation is a federally funded nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting equal access to justice and to providing high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income individuals and families.  LSC funds 137 civil legal aid programs with more than 920 offices across the nation.

Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1974. For 50 years, LSC has provided financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. The Corporation currently provides funding to 131 independent nonprofit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
